Non-Classroom University Experience

My experiences at SWAU went nothing like I expected them to. And, some of the greatest influences on me during my times have been in interactions outside of the classroom. I have been blessed to have had so many wonderful experiences and to have developed so many interpersonal relationships over the years.

My first two years at SWAU I chose to be rather antisocial and kept to myself far too much. After taking a semester off and returning, I began to truly see SWAU for what it is. There is no better word to describe SWAU than family. I began to get to know my professors and saw that they cared more about me than just what my grade was. I began to make friends and communicate more with others. These two changes eventually led to my change in major and realizing where God truly wanted me to be.

I also feel blessed to have gone to school on such a beautiful campus. My wife and I took many a walk with our girls, enjoying the weather, the sunsets, and the dinosaurs.

One of the greatest gifts SWAU has given me is that I have come to love learning. In fact, I plan to never stop learning. I will pursuing a couple different masters in the next ten years. I also am going to be a teacher, a profession in which I will constantly be learning.

SWAU made my college experience great both in and outside the classroom.
