During my student teaching, I had my high school seniors present on an endocrine gland and grade each other. Doing this allowed the students to be a part of the assessment process. This gave them a chance to practice being responsible to themselves and to their peers, rather than just to the teacher. I plan to integrate different assessment methods throughout my teaching that give more than just a letter grade. I plan to devise methods that integrate personal growth through the assessment process as well. Doing this will help me to master the assessment process and will also integrate my students as well!
