One of our requirements for Plant Biology was to create and carry out a plant based research project. I used this as an opportunity to finish my research into the effect of local onions on S. aureus. What I learned from this is that discovery and learning often only take place following failure after failure after failure. I plan to integrate experimentation into my classroom in order to teach my students that often the best way to learn is to fail and then try again and again. This will also sustain my mastery of experimentation as I will practice it with the students.
